How to play
- Type each hiding spot on its own line, in the exact order players should visit them — the first line is where the hunt starts.
- Set a prize message for the final card, and turn on QR-mode wording if you want a code-and-coordinates feel for older kids.
- Click Build clue chain to preview every card: each one shows which location to hide it at and which location its clue points to next.
- Edit any card's wording directly if the built-in phrasing doesn't fit, then print the set and cut along the dashed lines — hand the first clue to the players and hide the rest.
Planning a treasure hunt used to mean scribbling clues on scrap paper and hoping you didn't lose track of which one goes where. This tool fixes that: type your hiding spots in the order players should find them, and it builds a printable chain of clue cards automatically, each one worded to point to the next stop. Nothing you type is uploaded anywhere — the whole chain is built right in your browser and stays on your device. Pick from built-in riddle-style phrasing or write your own wording for any card, then print the set, cut along the lines, and hide each card at its matching spot before the hunt begins.
Frequently asked questions
- How does the clue chain make sure cards are in the right order?
- Each card is generated to reference the location that comes right after it in your list, so the card hidden at spot 1 always points to spot 2, the card at spot 2 points to spot 3, and so on, ending with a prize card instead of another clue.
- Can I write my own clues instead of the built-in wording?
- Yes. Every card has an optional custom text box — type your own riddle or hint there and it replaces the built-in phrasing in both the preview and the printed card, while the underlying location order stays locked in.
- Is anything I type saved or sent anywhere?
- No. The tool runs entirely in your browser, does not use any storage, and never sends your hiding spots or clue wording to a server, so you can plan a surprise hunt with total privacy.
- How many hiding spots can I use?
- You can list up to 200 locations, which covers everything from a quick four-clue backyard hunt to a large multi-room party hunt, and the tool keeps every card correctly chained no matter how long the list gets.
