How to play

Advent Countdown is a 24-door calendar you fill in yourself. Type one note per line for each day of December — a small treat, a family activity, a joke, or a memory — and the tool lays them out as numbered doors. Only today's door unlocks, so nobody can peek ahead to Christmas Eve on December 3rd, and any earlier days you missed stay open to catch up. Tapping an unlocked door reveals your note with a little sparkle and a soft sound, and the very last door gets a bigger celebration. A preview toggle lets you check any day's door ahead of time while you're building the calendar, without waiting for the calendar to catch up. Nothing is uploaded or saved between visits, so the whole calendar lives fresh in the browser tab each time you open it.
Frequently asked questions
- Can my kids open tomorrow's door early?
- No. The calendar checks the real date and only unlocks the door matching today, plus any earlier days still unopened, so future doors stay locked until their day arrives.
- What if I have fewer than 24 notes ready?
- Any day without a note still opens on schedule and shows a placeholder message, so you can add the rest of your notes later without breaking the calendar.
- Does it remember which doors I've already opened if I close the tab?
- No, nothing is saved between visits. Each session starts fresh, and only today's door is ever unlockable, so re-opening the page doesn't let anyone skip ahead.
