How to play

  1. Type the award title, the recipient's name, an optional reason, and who is signing it — the preview updates as you go.
  2. Pick a design from the four color swatches to match the occasion.
  3. Check the date field, which defaults to today but can be changed to any date.
  4. Click Download PNG to save a picture, or Print certificate to print it directly.

Fill in an award title, the recipient's name, an optional reason, and who is signing it, then watch a full-size certificate build itself on screen as you type. Choose from four different color designs — teal, gold, berry, or navy — each with a bordered, classic layout that looks right for a classroom, a team, or a family celebration. When it looks right, print it directly or download a high-resolution PNG image to email, post, or save for later. Nothing you type is uploaded anywhere; the certificate is drawn entirely in your browser and the picture is generated on your own device. It works for a single certificate or a quick batch of many, and needs no sign-up or internet connection once the page has loaded.

How it works

The Certificate Generator creates a printable award or achievement certificate as a landscape PDF. Fill in the recipient's name, certificate title (e.g., Certificate of Completion), a reason or achievement statement, the date, and the name of the signer or issuing organization. Click Generate and the styled PDF downloads immediately.

The output features a decorative border, centered typography, and clear sections for each piece of information you entered. It is suitable for course completion certificates, employee recognition awards, contest prizes, volunteer appreciation, or any informal to semi-formal recognition.

Everything runs in your browser -- no data is sent to a server, and no account is required. The resulting PDF can be printed on standard letter or A4 paper, signed by hand, and framed, or emailed as a digital certificate.

For a more polished result, print on heavier paper (90-120 gsm) and use a color printer to bring out the border decorations. If you need to add a logo or signature image, open the downloaded PDF in a PDF editor after downloading.

Worked example

Generate a course completion certificate

  1. Enter the student's full name as Recipient.
  2. Set the Title to Certificate of Completion.
  3. Enter the achievement: Has successfully completed the Introduction to Python course.
  4. Set the date to today's date.
  5. Enter the instructor's name as Signer and click Generate Certificate PDF.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving the signer field blank, which produces a certificate with no issuing authority and looks unofficial.
  • Writing an overly long achievement statement that overflows the certificate text area and disrupts the layout.
  • Not checking print preview before printing -- ensure margins are set to None or Minimum in the printer dialog to avoid cropping the border.

Key terms

Landscape orientation
A page layout where the width is greater than the height; standard for certificates as it allows the content to spread horizontally.
Signer
The person or organization whose name appears at the bottom of the certificate as the issuing authority.
Achievement statement
The sentence on the certificate describing what the recipient did or accomplished, e.g., Has completed 40 hours of community service.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print the certificate directly instead of saving a picture?
Yes. Click Print certificate and your browser's print dialog opens with just the certificate on the page, ready for any printer.
Is my information sent anywhere when I use this?
No. Everything is drawn locally in your browser using canvas graphics, and the PNG download is generated on your own device — nothing is uploaded or stored.
What if the award title or name is too long to fit?
The certificate automatically wraps long titles onto multiple lines so the text stays readable and centered, even for longer award names.
