How to play
- Type your guest list, one name per line, in the text box.
- Review or edit the dish categories — mains, sides, desserts, and drinks are filled in by default, and you can add or remove categories.
- Tap Assign Categories to give every guest a fair, randomly spread category badge.
- Reroll any single guest's category if needed, then tap Copy List to grab a plain-text version for sharing.
Type your guest list, one name per line, and set up the dish categories you want covered — mains, sides, desserts, and drinks are ready by default, but you can rename or add as many as you like. Tap Assign Categories and every guest gets a fair, randomized badge, spread as evenly as the numbers allow so a six-person potluck never ends up with four desserts and no mains. If one assignment doesn't work for someone's schedule or diet, reroll just that person without touching anyone else's category. When the list looks right, copy it as plain text to paste into a group chat or sign-up sheet.
Frequently asked questions
- Could everyone end up with the same category, like all desserts?
- No. Assignments are built from a pool that includes each category enough times to cover the guest list evenly before shuffling, so categories are spread out fairly rather than clustering on one option.
- Can I fix just one person's assignment without redoing everyone else's?
- Yes. Each guest has their own Reroll button that only changes that person's category — the rest of the group's assignments stay exactly as they were.
- What happens if I have more guests than categories?
- Categories repeat fairly across the extra guests, so with six guests and four categories, for example, no category gets more than two people while the others get one or two as well.
