How to play

  1. Choose Next Midnight for New Year's Eve, or switch to Custom to pick any future date and time.
  2. Optionally list year highlights, one per line, to cycle on screen while the countdown runs.
  3. Tap Start Countdown to go full screen with a giant clock counting down to the target moment.
  4. At zero, fireworks and horn sounds fire automatically — tap Exit any time to return to the setup screen.

This countdown fills the screen with a giant clock ticking down to midnight on New Year's Eve, or to any custom date and time you set, like a birthday, a wedding, or the last day of school. Add optional year highlights, one per line, and they'll cycle underneath the clock while everyone waits, turning the countdown into a quick look back at the year. The moment the clock hits zero, canvas fireworks burst across the screen with celebratory horn sounds, no app or download needed. It runs entirely in the browser, so it keeps working even if the party's internet drops right before midnight, and resetting it for next year takes one tap.

Frequently asked questions

Can I count down to something other than New Year's Eve?
Yes. Switch to the Custom date and time tab, pick any future moment, such as a birthday or graduation, and the countdown targets that instead of midnight.
What happens if I pick a date that's already in the past?
The Start button will shake and refuse to begin; you'll need to choose a date and time that is still ahead of the current moment before the countdown can start.
Do the year highlights show up automatically, or do I have to add them?
They're optional. Type one highlight per line in the text box before starting, and they'll cycle underneath the clock; leave it blank and the countdown runs without them.
