How to play

  1. Hold the ◀/▶ buttons or arrow keys to steer your ship across the bottom.
  2. Catch the glowing gold ore to add to your score.
  3. Avoid the grey meteors — touching one ends the run instantly.
  4. Falling objects get faster the longer you play.
  5. Your best ore count is saved; click Restart to beat it.

Move your ship left and right with the buttons or arrow keys. Catch the glowing gold ore to score, but steer clear of the grey meteors — one collision ends your run.

How it works

Meteor Miner puts you in control of a spaceship that moves left and right across the bottom of the screen. Ore chunks fall from above and must be caught (moved under) for points, while dangerous meteors fall alongside them and destroy your ship on contact.

The game demands split-second prioritization: decide in fractions of a second whether an incoming object is valuable ore to chase or a dangerous meteor to dodge. The visual cues (color, shape, or glow) distinguish ore from meteors.

One hit ends the run, so the strategic choice between chasing a high-value ore piece and playing it safe by staying away from a dangerous cluster defines high scores.

Worked example

Collecting 10 ore without being hit

  1. Position the ship near the center at the start to minimize travel distance to either side.
  2. Identify the first falling object by its color or shape before it gets close.
  3. Move under ore to catch it; steer away from meteors.
  4. After catching an ore piece, return toward center to reset your position.
  5. When two objects fall close together, prioritize avoiding the meteor over catching the ore.

10 ore caught, zero hits, run still active.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Chasing a high-value ore piece that is flanked by meteors, taking unnecessary risk.
  • Staying too close to one side of the screen, making it impossible to dodge objects that fall on the far side.
  • Confusing the visual cues early in the game -- take a moment before the first objects arrive to note which look dangerous.

Key terms

Ore
A valuable falling object that awards points when the ship passes under it.
Meteor
A hazardous falling object that ends the run immediately on contact with the ship.
One-hit death
A game mechanic where a single collision with a hazard immediately terminates the run.

Frequently asked questions

Catch the glowing gold ore for points; the grey rocks are deadly — avoid them.
Does it speed up?
