How to play

  1. Tap Left/Right buttons or press the arrow keys to switch between three lanes.
  2. Dodge every oncoming orange obstacle — a collision ends the run.
  3. You score one point for each obstacle that passes safely behind you.
  4. The scroll speed and spawn rate ramp up the longer you last.
  5. Your best score is tracked — click Restart to try to beat it.

Tap Left/Right or use arrow keys to switch lanes and dodge oncoming obstacles. Each obstacle you pass scores a point — the run speeds up the longer you survive!

How it works

Lane Runner is a three-lane endless runner. Your character sprints forward automatically and you switch between the three parallel lanes to avoid obstacles that appear in your path. As time goes on, speed increases and obstacles appear more frequently and in harder patterns.

Switching lanes is done with left and right arrow keys, A/D keys, or swipe gestures on touch devices. The run ends when your character collides with an obstacle. Your distance run is your score.

Lane Runner is a quick arcade experience that trains attention and fast decision-making. Because there are only three lanes, the core mechanic is simple to learn, making it accessible while still rewarding experienced players who can read obstacle sequences ahead of time.

Worked example

Running past the 500m mark

  1. Start in the center lane to have the maximum number of escape options.
  2. Scan two to three obstacle sets ahead rather than reacting to the one immediately in front.
  3. When an obstacle blocks your lane, switch one lane in the direction with the clearest path.
  4. Avoid rapid back-and-forth switching, which can lead to mistiming a lane change.
  5. As speed ramps up, commit to lane decisions earlier to give yourself enough time.

A run exceeding 500 meters with no collision.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Starting in a side lane, which removes one direction of escape and puts you at a disadvantage early.
  • Reacting to obstacles one at a time instead of reading ahead and planning a series of lane changes.
  • Pressing a lane-switch key multiple times rapidly and accidentally overshooting the intended lane.
