How to play

  1. Click Start to begin dropping fruit and bombs from the top.
  2. Move your cursor over, click, or swipe across fruit to slice it for points.
  3. Avoid the bombs (💣) — slicing one costs a life.
  4. Letting a piece of fruit fall off the bottom also costs a life.
  5. Three lost lives ends the game; click Restart to try again.

Move your cursor over (or swipe across) the falling fruit to slice it for points. Don't slice the bombs, and don't let fruit fall past you — three misses ends the game.

How it works

Fruit Slicer is a swipe-and-slice arcade game. Pieces of fruit are launched into the air from the sides and bottom of the screen; you slice them by clicking and dragging (or swiping on touch) through their paths. Slicing earns points; each fruit missed loses a life. Bombs appear among the fruit -- hitting a bomb ends the game immediately.

Multiple fruit can appear simultaneously and your swipe can slice several in one motion if you angle it through all of them. Chaining a single swipe through many fruits is both satisfying and the fastest way to build a high score.

Fruit Slicer is a tactile, hand-eye coordination game that works especially well on touchscreens, though mouse users can also achieve high scores with deliberate, sweeping cursor movements.

Worked example

Slicing three fruits in one swipe

  1. Wait for a cluster of two or more fruits to appear close together in their arc.
  2. Begin your swipe slightly before the cluster reaches its peak height.
  3. Drag through all visible fruits in a single continuous motion.
  4. Release after the swipe clears all targets.
  5. Check the score popup to confirm all three were sliced.

Three fruits sliced with one swipe, earning a combo bonus.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Slicing each fruit individually with short swipes instead of angling one long swipe through multiple pieces.
  • Reacting to a bomb by trying to swipe around it -- it is usually safer to let nearby fruit go unsliced than to risk hitting the bomb.
  • Over-focusing on a cluster of fruit at the top of their arc while missing isolated pieces launched from the opposite side.

Key terms

Swipe
A continuous click-drag or touch-drag motion that slices any fruit whose hitbox intersects the path.
Bomb
A hazardous object that appears among the fruit; slicing it ends the game immediately.
Life
One of typically three chances; a life is lost each time a piece of fruit reaches the bottom unsliced.

Frequently asked questions
