How to play
- Paste your spelling word list, one word per line, into the text box.
- Set the show time slider for how many seconds each word flashes before hiding.
- Tap Start Test — the word appears, then disappears, and the student spells it aloud from memory.
- Mark each attempt Correct or Missed; the tally updates live and a full recap appears when you tap End Test.
Paste in this week's spelling list, set how many seconds each word should stay on screen, and tap Start Test. Each word flashes big and clear, then vanishes, so the student has to hold the spelling in their head and say it out loud rather than reading it off the screen. You mark every attempt Correct or Missed with one tap, and a running tally keeps score as you go through the list. Words are drawn without repeats until the whole list has been used once, then reshuffled, so you can keep going past the end of the list for extra practice rounds. When you're done, a full recap shows every word sorted into correct and missed, ready to review together or save for next week's list.
Frequently asked questions
- How long should I set the show time for younger students?
- The slider ranges from 1 to 10 seconds — start around 3-4 seconds for most classrooms and shorten it as students get more confident, since a shorter flash forces stronger memory recall.
- Can I show the same word again if a student needs another look?
- Yes, tap Show Word Again at any time to re-flash the current word for the same duration before marking the result, without affecting the tally or advancing the list.
- Will words repeat before the whole list has been used?
- No. Words are drawn from a shuffled deck with no repeats until every word has appeared once, then the deck reshuffles automatically so you can keep testing past the end of the list.
