How to play

  1. Set how many seconds each round should last, then tap Start round.
  2. A word appears on the banner and full screen — teams shout rhymes until the timer ends.
  3. Tap +1 next to a team's score to award points as they call out rhymes.
  4. If a rhyme is disputed, type both words into the checker below for an instant ruling.

Rhyme Time gives phonemic awareness practice a bit of competitive energy. Tap Start and a word from one of sixteen built-in rhyming families — cat, hop, sing, snow, and more — appears on a big banner along with a countdown you control. Two teams race against each other to shout out as many rhymes as they can before time runs out, while the teacher taps the scoreboard to award points to whichever team is ahead. When a rhyme is disputed, the built-in checker settles it instantly: type both words and it explains whether they share a real rhyming family or ending. Everything from the word bank to the checker runs offline, so it works just as well without a projector connection as with one.

Frequently asked questions

How many rhyme families does the built-in checker know?
The word bank and checker cover sixteen common rhyme families — like -at, -ake, -ing, and -ow — with ten family-safe example words in each, plus a fallback that catches shared endings for words outside the bank.
What happens if a rhyme is disputed mid-round?
Type the two words into the Word A and Word B fields below the scoreboard and tap Check rhyme; it tells you instantly whether they belong to the same family or share a common ending, with a short reason.
How do I keep score between rounds?
The scoreboard shows Team 1 and Team 2 with +1 and -1 buttons under each name, so the teacher can award or correct points at any time, whether the round is running or paused between words.
