How to play

  1. Type a list of categories, one per line, in the textarea.
  2. Tap Spin a Category to randomly land on one category for the round.
  3. Tap Start Race to reset the grid and start the timer.
  4. Tap each letter on the grid as students name a word starting with it — the clock stops automatically when all 26 are found.

Alphabet Race turns any subject into a fast, visible vocabulary sprint. Type a list of categories — animals, foods, countries, whatever fits your lesson — and spin to land on one at random. Then start the race: a running clock ticks up while the class calls out words that start with each letter, and the teacher taps a letter on the A-to-Z grid the moment a student lands one. Every tap is instant, so a burst of quick answers never gets dropped or debounced. The grid fills in green as letters are found, and when all 26 letters are checked off, the clock stops automatically with a confetti burst and a final time on screen — a clean way to close out the round and compare times between classes or teams.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when all 26 letters are found?
The timer stops automatically, a confetti burst plays, and the final time is displayed above the grid, marking a clean, celebratory end to the round without any extra taps needed.
Can I re-spin for a new category mid-race?
Yes, but spinning replaces the current category on screen — start a new race afterward with Start Race so the grid and timer reset cleanly for the new topic.
Can I un-mark a letter if it was tapped by mistake?
Yes. Tapping a filled-in letter toggles it back to unfound, so a misclick during a fast-paced round is easy to correct without resetting the whole grid.
