AbraCalc

Mystery Box Reveal

Hide a word or a local photo behind a grid of cover tiles, then clear them one at a time as your class guesses. Fewer tiles cleared means a sharper guess. Works fully offline.

How to play

  1. Choose Type a word or Use a local photo, then enter the word or pick an image file from your device.
  2. Pick a grid size (3x3, 4x4, or 5x5) and tap Build the Box to cover it with shuffled tiles.
  3. Tap individual tiles to clear them, or use Clear a Random Tile to reveal one spot at a time as guesses come in.
  4. Tap Reveal Everything once someone guesses correctly, or New Box to shuffle a fresh grid for the next round.

Pick what's hiding: type a word or short phrase, or load a photo straight from this device — nothing is ever uploaded or saved, so classroom photos stay private. Choose a 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5 grid and the whole thing gets covered with tiles in a random order. Tap tiles one by one, or use Clear a Random Tile to reveal a new spot each time, and let your class shout out guesses as more of the picture or word appears underneath. Reveal Everything jumps straight to the answer when someone finally nails it, and New Box resets the whole grid for the next round with a fresh shuffle.

Frequently asked questions

Does the photo I choose ever get uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is read directly from your device using a local file picker and displayed only in your browser — it is never uploaded, transmitted, or saved anywhere by the tool.
What happens if I tap the same tile twice?
Nothing extra happens. Once a tile is cleared it stays cleared, so tapping it again or double-tapping quickly does not change the count or re-trigger any reveal effects.
Can I control which tiles get cleared, or is it always random?
You can tap any specific tile yourself for full control, or use Clear a Random Tile if you'd rather let the tool pick the next spot to reveal for you.
