How to play
- Name your hold (wall sit, hollow hold, dead hang — anything) and pick Fixed target or Open mode.
- Set your hold length (if fixed), number of sets, and rest seconds between sets.
- Tap Start to go full screen — fixed holds count down with a midpoint cue, open holds count up.
- For an open hold, tap "Done with this hold" when you release it; the session tracks your personal best automatically.
Isometric work covers a lot of ground beyond one classic exercise: wall sits, hollow holds, dead hangs, static lunges, anything where you hold a position rather than repeat a motion. Name your hold, choose Fixed target for a countdown to a set number of seconds or Open for a count-up you end yourself, then set how many sets and how much rest between them. Tap Start and the screen fills full screen with a giant timer, the current set number, and a soft encouraging cue at the halfway mark of every fixed-target hold. Every hold you complete — timed or open — is checked against your best hold this session, so beating it lights up the finish screen with an extra celebration alongside the regular done chime.
Frequently asked questions
- How is this different from the Plank Challenge Timer?
- The Plank Challenge Timer runs one specific 30-day progression table with rest days built in — it's plank-only and schedule-driven. This tool is a general-purpose isometric timer for any hold you name, with freeform sets and rest you set yourself, no fixed calendar.
- What's the difference between Fixed target and Open mode?
- Fixed target counts down to a hold length you choose in advance, ending automatically. Open mode counts up with no preset end — you hold as long as you can and tap "Done with this hold" when you're finished, which is when that hold gets checked against your personal best.
- How is my personal best tracked across sets?
- Every completed hold in the session, whether timed or open, is compared against the longest hold you've completed so far this session. Beating it triggers a distinct celebration on the finish screen and updates the PB chip immediately.
