Calculate how many days from today until any future (or past) date.

How it works

Enter any future or past date and this calculator instantly tells you how many days separate today from that date. For future dates you get the number of days remaining; for past dates you get the number of days elapsed since then.

The count is based on whole calendar days from today's date in your local timezone. Partial days are not counted — if it is currently 11:50 PM, tomorrow still counts as one full day away. The result also shows a human-friendly breakdown such as weeks and days when the total is large.

Practical uses include project deadline tracking, personal milestone planning (days until a birthday, anniversary, or vacation), contract and warranty expiry monitoring, and academic calendar planning (days left in a semester).

For recurring questions like "how many days until Christmas" or "how many days since a birth date", you can bookmark the page with the date pre-filled for quick reference.

Worked example

Check days remaining until a project deadline

  1. Enter the deadline date, e.g. 2025-08-01.
  2. The calculator reads today's date automatically from your browser.
  3. It returns, for example: 36 days remaining (5 weeks and 1 day).

You know immediately how much calendar time is left to complete the project.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Entering the date in the wrong format and getting an error — use the date picker to avoid format issues.
  • Forgetting that the count is in calendar days, not business days; weekends are included.
  • Assuming the count includes today — it counts from tomorrow onward, so a same-day event shows 0.
