Experiment Stopwatch
A lab-ready stopwatch that lets you name each trial as you lap it, then export the full table of trial names, lap times, and split times as a CSV file for your write-up.

How to play
- Tap Start to begin the stopwatch running.
- Type an optional trial name in the field, then tap Lap right when that trial finishes.
- Repeat for each trial; every lap adds a new row with its lap time and cumulative split time.
- Tap Export CSV to download the full table as a spreadsheet-ready file for your write-up.
Tap Start to begin timing an experiment, then type a trial name and tap Lap after each run to record it, whether that's a marble rolling down a ramp, a chemical reaction finishing, or a lap of a track. Each row in the growing table shows the trial name, its individual lap time, and the running split time since the stopwatch started, so students can see both how long each trial took on its own and where it sits in the overall session. When data collection is done, tap Export CSV to download a clean spreadsheet-ready file with every trial name, lap time, and split time, ready to paste into a lab write-up or spreadsheet. Reset clears everything for a fresh run. All timing and export happens locally in the browser with nothing sent anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between lap time and split time?
- Lap time is how long that individual trial took on its own, measured from the previous lap, while split time is the total elapsed time since the stopwatch first started, so you can see both per-trial duration and overall session progress in the same row.
- Do I have to name every trial?
- No, the trial name field is optional; if you leave it blank the row is automatically labeled Trial 1, Trial 2, and so on in order, so you can always lap quickly during a fast-moving experiment and label things later if needed.
- What format is the exported file?
- Export CSV downloads a comma-separated-values file with one row per trial and columns for trial name, lap number, lap time, and split time, which opens directly in any spreadsheet program for a lab report or further analysis.
