Yearly Commute Cost Calculator
Calculate the total annual cost of commuting to work, including fuel, public transport, and time value.
How to use this tool
- Estimate your daily commute cost (fuel, tolls, parking, or transit fare).
- Enter the number of days you commute per year.
- See your annual and monthly commuting expense.
See the true annual cost of your daily commute — it adds up faster than you think.
Formula
Annual Cost = Daily Commute Cost ($) × Work Days per Year
Monthly Average = Annual Cost ÷ 12
How it works
This calculator multiplies your total daily commute cost by the number of days you commute each year to produce a true annual figure. The daily cost should include all relevant expenses — fuel or transit fares, parking, and any other per-trip charges. Dividing by 12 gives a smoothed monthly average, which is useful for budgeting even though commuting costs are rarely spread perfectly evenly across months.
Worked example
Worked example
- Daily commute cost = $12; Work days per year = 235.
- Annual cost = $12 × 235 = $2,820.
- Monthly average = $2,820 ÷ 12 = $235.
Annual commute cost: $2,820.00 | Monthly average: $235.00
